Today we had the pleasure of visiting a school for children with special needs and giving a talk to both parents and teachers about how to use our book “My Magical Garden”.
When we wrote the book we wanted it to be accessible to all children and the staff in particular were really interested to know how best to use the book with their pupils and they were very keen to try the children with the 15-minute meditation, which goes with the book.
We put the book into a presentation and encouraged the audience to make their choices as we went through each page. Once they reached the appendix they were able to translate their choices and many of them said it was incredibly spot on for how they were feeling at the moment. It gave them a very good understanding of how the book works and how it could be useful in understanding their child’s emotions. It will be interesting to get their feedback once they have tried the book out with their children.
We had lots of questions at the end and some of the parents were showing concerns about how their children would be able to get any benefits from using the book. As the book has been designed to use our subconscious it really doesn’t matter what mental ability a child has.
So after the summer we have been invited back to do a workshop with the parents, children and staff, which we are really excited about. They seem very keen to introduce the children to meditation, which is fantastic, as it will benefit the children enormously.
